SAG-AFTRA Approves Deal to End Actors Strike

1 min read

SAG-AFTRA has approved a tentative agreement to end the 118-day actors strike, Variety reports. The agreement with studios reportedly includes a 7% pay increase and protections for actors against AI. Full details are expected to come later this week.

The actors strike began after the Writers Guild of America went on strike, seeking similar pay increases and AI protections. The WGA reached an agreement with studios in September. The strike impacted production of countless films and TV series. SAG-AFTRA’s strike rules made it so actors were unable to promote their projects, including summer blockbusters like Barbie. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes resulted in the postponement of this year’s Emmy Awards, which was originally set to happen in September and is now expected to take place in January.
